needs you may have. Enjoy my immense knowledge of MS to your heart's content.

ms04 What is MapleStory?
-------------------------------------------
MapleStory is a Massively-Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, or MMORPG. It is filled with beautiful
scenery, massive maps, and the worst possible community there could be. Nonetheless, if you chose to
read this part (it's doubtful many will) then you don't care about my personal opinions of the game. Back
to the facts: MapleStory is a massive 2D side-scrolling RPG, where the in-game characters (all of them)
are fantastically made anime-style sprites. Then again, it was made originally in Korea, home of some
of the best artists in the world. It has many character customization options available (although most
require you to spend REAL money and buy them in the Cash Shop).
-------------------------------------------------------------------
ms05 Early Mage Life (Becoming One, etc.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
First you must create you character, and for the mage (like all the other jobs) there is a perfect set of
stats for you to roll. Sometimes you can roll the stats right away, sometimes it takes hours. Perfect
stats are as follows:
STR: 4
DEX: 4
INT: Anything, as long as STR and DEX are 4.
LUK: Anything, as long as STR and DEX are 4.
While those are the BEST stats you can roll, having a 5/4, 4/5, or even a 5/5 is acceptable (5/5 is only for those
lazy ones out there).
Now you're on Maple Island. The requirements for being a magician are level 8, and Int at 20, but if you add stats
right, your Int will me much larger than that. I'm not going to explain everything you go through, but being a
mage on Maple Island SUCKS. You hit for 1 to 3 damage, and the weakest enemy om the Island, the Green
Snail, has 8 HP. So guess what? You get to train on Green Snails until level 8. Upon reaching level 8, travel
to Southperry, take the boat (far right of the map), and you arrive at Victoria Island. Now, take the taxi to Ellinia,
and climb to the very top of Ellinia, and enter the house. Speak to Grendel the Really Old (formerly known as
Hines), and he will make you into a Magician. He will also give you 1 skill point. Put this point into Energy
Bolt. This is CRUCIAL, because otherwise you will have to survive off of your 1-3 points of damage for another
level.
-------------------------------------------------
ms06 Magician Stat Allocation
-------------------------------------------------
Okay, no more beating around the bush, here's the stat allocation for magicians. Luck must always be 3
above the current level of your character, and EVERYTHING ELSE GOES TO INTELLIGENCE!!! You wouldn't
believe how many people tell me how they put some strength points in so that they could be
"0ob4r 5tR0|\|G!!1!" Okay, so here's thats stat allocation stated MATHEMATICALLY:
Luck = Level + 3, so every level (after you get it to 3 over your level) you add stats like this:
Luck + 1, Int + 4 (I.E.: If you're level 11, your Luk would be 14, and your Str and Dex would be 4, and Int
would be massive.)
---------------------------------------------------------
ms07 Magician Skills and Allocation
---------------------------------------------------------
First of all, here's a list and description of all the Magician skills:
Improving MP recovery:
- Prerequisites: none
- Master level: 16
- description: With this skill you'll be able to recover even more MP every 10
seconds. MP recovery is also dependant on the level of the mage.
Improving Max MP Increase:
- Prerequisites: Improving MP recovery 5
- Master level: 10
- description: This skill will increase the amount of MP you get per level up.
The more points in the skill the more MP. Also if this skill has points in
it if you should decide to put a stat point into MP then the increase would
be more than normal.
Defensive Skills (skills that improve your defence, must be cast):
Magic Guard:
- Prerequisites: none
- Master level: 20
- description: Temporarily replaces damage to HP with MP. If there is no MP
the hp takes a full beating.
Magic Armor:
- Prerequisites: Magic Guard 3
- Master level: 20
- description: Temporarily boosts weapon defense of the mage
Offensive Spells (butt-whooping skills):
Energy bolt:
- Prerequisites: none
- Master level: 20
- description: Uses MP to shoot a bolt of magic at an enemy. MP cost doubles
at level 11
Magic Claw:
- Prerequisites: Energy Bolt 1
- Master level: 20
- description: Uses MP to attack the enemy two times with a magic claw. The MP
cost doubles at level 11
Now here's how you SHOULD add your skills in:
Now, some people argue that Energy Bolt is better than Magic Claw. Truthfully,
this is all opinions, but Magic Claw does much more damage and can go through
walls, but costs 4 more MP at max level. Energy Bolt does less damage, cannot
go through walls, and costs 20 MP at max level. You may choose whichever you
want, but my recommendation is Magic Claw.

ms08 Early Leveling Areas (lvl. 1-30)
---------------------------------------------------------
Here are the top rated training areas for magicians levels 1-30:
Levels 1-8: Green Snails at Maple Island
Levels 8-13: Henesys Hunting Ground 1
Levels 13-18: The Slime Tree (if you don't know the location, just ask someone in Ellinia)
Levels 18-24/25: Pig Beach (if you don't know the location, ask someone in Lith Harbor)
Levels 24/25-30: Kerning City PQ (there are guides on many websites telling you how to get
in these and also how to do them)
--------------------------------------------
ms09 2nd Job Advancement
--------------------------------------------
Congratulations! Now that you're level 30 (or now that you've read down this far), you can
make the choice for 2nd job advancement: Fire/Poison Wizard, Ice/Lightning Wizard, or
Cleric. First of all, however, you must pass a simple test. Go talk to Grendel (Hines), and
he will inform you of how much stronger you are (like you didn't already know), and how
you are ready to get another job advancement. He will give you a letter, which you take
to a map called "The Forest North of Ellinia." Once arriving there, you climb all the way
to the top, and talk to the NPC at the top. He will take you to a hidden map where you
go and collect 30 dark marbles. Upon doing this, talk to the old man in this map and he
will give you "Proof of a Hero." Take this to Hines. Congrats on whichever job you chose!
Didn't choose a job? That's partially what I'm going to help you with further on.

ms10 Fire/Poison Wizard Skills and Allocation
------------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all, here are the skills:
Passive Skills:
MP Eater:
- Prerequisites: None
- Master Level: 20

the chance and amount stolen. Will not work if the enemys MP is 0.
Defensive skills:
Teleport:
- Prerequisites: None
- Master Level: 20
- Description: Allows you to teleport using the arrow keys. Every level adds
to the distance and decreases MP cost
Meditation:
-Prerequisites: MP Eater 3
-Master level: 20
-Description: Meditate for a bit to temporarily boost
up the magic attack of party members around the area.
Slow:
-Prerequisites: Teleport 5
-Master Level: 20
-Description: Temporarily slows down opponents around
you. Can't use it on them twice at once, and it
affects only 6 enemies at a time.
Offensive skills:
Fire Arrow:
-Prerequisites: none
-Master Level: 30
-Description: Create a firearrow with the power of
magic, and fire it at an enemy. Applies 1.5 times the

-Poison Breath:
-Prerequisites: none
-Master Level: 30
-Description: Creates a poisonous water bubble, and
shoots it at an enemy. The enemy gets temporarly
poisoned with a set success rate.
And here's the recommended path:
Lvl 30: MP Eater or Teleport - 1
Lvl 31: Teleport (or MP Eater if you did Teleport at L30) - 1, Fire Arrow - 2
Please remember, it is YOUR character. This is just the most common setup I could find.

ms11 Cleric Skills and Allocation
---------------------------------------------------
The skills:
Passive Skills:
MP Eater:
- Prerequisites: None
- Master Level: 20
- Description: With a certain chance of success the MP Eater skill Allows the
mage to drain an enemys MP after using a magic attack. Every level adds to
the chance and amount stolen. Will not work if the enemys MP is 0.
Defensive Skills:
Teleport:
- Prerequisites: None
- Master Level: 20
- Description: Allows you to teleport using the arrow keys. Every level adds
to the distance and decreases MP cost
Heal:
- Prerequisites: None

The higher the level the more healed

percentage.
Bless:

Accuracy for Weapon Attacks.
Offensive Skills:
Holy Arrow:

- Description: Fires a Holy Arrow that deals major damage to undead and evil
creatures.
Suggested Path:
Though in the end it doesnt really matter beacause you will gain enough SP to
learn every single skill and master it you do need to at least know the best
way to level them up. This does not include Teleport as it is a useless skill.
The build:
Please remember, it is YOUR character. This is just the most common setup
I could find.
